It’s amazing how people have become so reliant on technology. As the number of users grow so does the number of opportunities for cyber criminals to hack into systems.
So how do you know if you have been a victim of ransomware. There are a few tell-tale signs you can look out for.
- Ransom demands
Sometimes it’s just plain obvious. You will get a pop-up that lets you know that your data has been encrypted and the only way to get them back is to pay to have the malware infection removed. This how they make their money.
- Pop Up’s
We’ve all been to those spammy sites that try have lots of pop up advertisements, it gets really annoying. If those pop ups annoy you, you’re going to hate Malware. A Malware virus can mean that you physically can’t close the pop up’s as quickly as they pop up. You will literally be littered with pop up’s.
- Slow
A full memory or an old computer can lead to a computer running slowly, but it can also be a good sign that you’re infected by malware. When you move your mouse, does it run more than ten seconds behind? A slow computer is frustrating and ineffective, and it might be time to admit you could be infected!
- Messages
When friends, colleagues and/or clients start receiving strange messages from you that you know you didn’t send, it might be time to explore the possibility that you’re infected.
- Crashing
Whilst we all experience the occasional crash with our computers, some malware can infiltrate your computer and create instability that will lead to your computer constantly crashing.
